WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has upheld a $20,000 fine against a leader of the movement [Orly Taitz] challenging President Barack Obama’s citizenship.
….
Taitz sued in Georgia federal court on behalf of Army Capt. Connie Rhodes. Rhodes sought to avoid deployment to Iraq by claiming Obama wasn’t born in the United States.
Justice Samuel Alito on Monday rejected Taitz’s second request to block the sanctions. Justice Clarence Thomas had rejected the request earlier.
Those wacky activist judges Alito and Thomas.

Interesting happenings in the State Ethics Commissions investigations into John Oxendine’s PAC contributions.
You’ll recall over a year ago, the AJC reported that Oxendine’s campaign for Governor got $120,000 in $12,000 installment from 10 Alabama PACs connected to Oxendine’s friend, and hunting partner Delos “Dee” Yancey III.
Well, the State Ethics Commission opened an investigation, and subpoenaed the 10 PACs in Alabama. The PACs told the State Ethics Commission to get bent, the SEC’s jurisdiction doesn’t apply in Alabama. So the SEC subpoenaed Yancy’s firms in Georgia.
Those firms dragged their feet, then filed a lawsuit in Fulton Superior Court saying that the State Ethics Commission shouldn’t be allowed to do their job this close to an election, because some members might be politically motivated. Who ever heard of political appointees being politically motivated?
Anyway, Fulton Superior Court Judge Kimberly M. Esmond Adams ruled that all hearings into this matter be postponed till she holds a hearing on the matter. After all, why should GOP Primary voters be informed about the candidates they are voting on.
The State Ethics Commission held some debate on what constituted “this matter” – the subpoenas from the firms in question or the entire Oxendine investigation. They had initially determined that the court’s ruling applied to Yancey’s firms only, but today the AJC is reporting that the State Ethics Commission has decided to cancel a scheduled hearing into the entire investigation.
Clearly someone has something to hide.
What Xenophobic ass-hats like Pat Buchanan don’t say is that millions of people – who would otherwise have nothing better to do than hate America and start wars with us – are now able to feed their families, educate and vaccinate their children, and possibly even retire before laying on their death-bed.
To describe world GDP in percentages is to assume that economic development is a zero-sum-game and for others to win the US must lose.
According to the International Monetary Fund, the United States began the century producing 32 percent of the world’s gross domestic product. We ended the decade producing 24 percent. No nation in modern history, save for the late Soviet Union, has seen so precipitous a decline in relative power in a single decade.

The US State Department agent asked to see my passport, and the concierge explained that I was a Somali refugee. So she looks at her computer screen and says, “um, I’m afraid there’s a problem, this passenger’s name is on a watch list.” Oh, great. Looks like my dad is playing Mr. Buzzkill again, just because I took that semester off from Oxford to go backpacking in Yemen. So I showed her my official State Department visa.
So I’m like, “honey, do I look like I’m a US military veteran?”
“No.”
“Do I look like I’m some sort of right wing anti-tax teabagger?”
“No.”
“Do I look like anybody else on the DHS terrorism danger list?”
“No, but…”
“Then I suggest that unless you want a nasty anti-discrimination lawsuit on your hands, you’d best give me an aisle seat. With extended legroom.”
I think one of the reasons we have such shit-tastic representatives in Atlanta and Washington is the fact that sane, moral, upright people who don’t want to fuck-over large swaths of the American people do not want to be associated with the likes of Richardson, Cagle, Harbin, Sanford, Burkhalter, Foley, Gingrich, etc.
They don’t want their wives wondering if they are really out late at a committee meeting, or boinking their staffer in their Capitol office. They don’t want their families wondering if that young lobbyist is a professional or professional slut.
Power Corrupts. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. Political Power corrupts your ability to keep your fly zipped.
Fuck resignations. I want to see indictments.
I just saw an ad with G. Gordon Liddy for a Gold dealer. He pointed out how the dollar is worth 27% less now than it was in 2000.
Now I’m not historian, but didn’t Mr. Liddy go to prison protecting the guy who closed the gold window?
Perhaps Al Gonzales or Harriet Meyers can get jobs hawking privacy products so citizens might have a modicum of privacy from government snoops who might disagree with your politics. .
The Crypt: Poll shows Don Young trailing by 20 points against Democrat – Politico.com
“A new poll shows that the two longtime Republican elected officials from Alaska, Sen. Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, face serious obstacles to winning reelection.”
The GOP will never regain a majority until it sheds itself of the likes of Young & Stevens.

This incompetent woman managed to take a healthy and vibrant Fortune 50 company and run it into the toilet. If there were a tracking stock for China (of for that matter Bangladesh) it would be a good investment with her around the West Wing.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the FairTax no longer represents fundamental pro-growth tax reform.
It has taken me awhile to resolve my feelings for the FairTax. Unlike Indy and others, I think the bill would benefit our economy and country greatly. I think it might be one of the few ways out of this mess our congress critters have made with entitlements. I think a consumption tax is a better way to raise revenue than a tax on productivity. I think the FairTax would encourage savings and investment, bring foreign capital to our shores, strengthen the dollar and lower the price of oil.
The problem is that the FairTax promoters and supporters jumped onto the Mike “I’m happy to raise taxes in anyway you want” Huckabee bandwagon. How is it that people who want to lower taxes and improve government would vote for someone who increased the tax burden of his state by 50%?
I began to realize that the FairTax promoters would use any means available to promote their idea and the FairTax supporters would buy it. The FairTax movement stopped being for better public policy and became a cult.
