That would be a great foundation for a new civilization, the mentally ill.

Of course, we could send sterile mentally ill up with a bunch of healthy orphan babies so that the journey gets underway with people crazy enough to be willing to make the flight, but they are replaceed by healthy people sometime mid-journey who have adapted to life in space.

I believe we’ll send one-way colony ships out to other systems with the expectation of terraforming possible planets. That said, I think the folks who board these colony ships will have a screw or two loose, so what our diaspora will look like might be very interesting.

Yeah, space is not just final frontier, like Old Ben Kenobi, it is our only hope.

I do not think we will ever escape the solar system, since travelling at any speed capable of getting us to another star system would likely kill us from the radiation caused by plowing into particles at some significant fraction of the speed of light, but we could at least colonize the moon, mars or perhap a moon of Jupiter.

Thanks for this info. You would not believe how much trouble this caused me before I found out that the right shift key was not working. Locked my account…changed keyboards…then I noticed it was only having issues when connecting from a new box on the Synergy box.

Good points. The thing that I think most Americans can agree on is that the focus needs to be on job creation and most jobs these days are created by small innovative companies so promoting policies to encourage this activity would be wise.
